It is in the infinite greatness of His love and mercy that God is sending words He has spoken to help a generation of people and churches who have become very lost and blind because of resisting and rejecting the leadership of His Holy Spirit, and because of insisting on coming to Him to receive His salvation in their own easy and comfortable man-made ways, which He does not approve of.
This message echoes those God delivered through His prophets in ancient times—through Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and others—when Israel had turned away from Him. Then, God spoke to awaken His people before judgment came. Today, He is doing the same.
Back then, Israel faced judgment in the form of national destruction and death in this life. But now, God is warning this generation—including multitudes within the church—that they are facing the judgment of eternal death and destruction! This is because masses of people are trying to approach God in ways that are easy, comfortable, and popular—but not led by His Spirit, and not accepted by Him!
Here are the words the LORD has spoken:
“The ways many people are coming to Me to receive salvation are not working, so their efforts to receive salvation fail. They are like men digging cisterns that can hold no water. When people come to Me for salvation, the blood of Jesus must be applied to their hearts. Just as the blood applied to their doorposts on the first Passover was the only thing that saved the Children of Israel from the judgment of death, even so today it is only when the blood of Jesus is applied to their hearts that people are saved from the judgment of eternal death.”
The Holy Spirit always leads those who follow through deep conviction concerning their sins and wrongdoing against the Mighty Creator, and to experience a powerful awakening brought by the Spirit of God, that because of breaking His holy laws they are condemned to the “second death,” which Revelation 20:14-15 states is to be thrown into the lake of fire on the coming Day of Judgment. (Revelation 20:14-15, “This is the second death—the lake of fire. Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”)
God always makes this severe eternal punishment, which He has placed upon all mankind, a powerful reality to people, because this is the specific punishment He sacrificed the innocent life of Jesus, His only Son, to suffer unimaginable pain and a brutal death on a cross to save people from! Jesus suffered and died in order to take this severe punishment all people deserve upon Himself, and to make the only way for them to go free!
Now that God has made this infinitely great sacrifice to make the only way people can go free from the severe punishment of their sins, He reserves giving the salvation Jesus provided to only those who come to Him in the way His Holy Spirit leads, which is by first facing the reality that they are condemned to the eternal death Jesus died to save them from because of their sins, and then by receiving Jesus as their Savior for the specific purpose to be set free from this horrible punishment!
If anyone comes to God denying that they deserve the punishment Jesus shed His innocent blood on a cross to save them from, and that this severe punishment is placed upon them as a result of breaking His laws, then God rejects their efforts to receive salvation! This is because they are not only coming to Him in a dishonest and untruthful way by refusing to acknowledge the seriousness of their sins and the severe eternal judgment which is placed upon them because of their sins, but they are severely devaluing and taking away from the infinite value and greatness of the sacrifice, and the suffering and death of God’s only Son by refusing to acknowledge the very reason and purpose for His death, which was to save them and all people from this horrific punishment!
God requires that before He gives the precious salvation Jesus provided by sacrificing His innocent life on a cross to anyone, they must first face the reality that they are guilty and condemned to the severe eternal punishment He suffered and died to save them from. This is because God so strongly wants everyone who receives the salvation Jesus purchased at the cost of sacrificing His own life, to have the highest level of thankfulness and appreciation for what He did and what He accomplished. God knows that the only way anyone can experience this high level of thankfulness and appreciation is by facing the reality of how serious and severe the eternal punishment is which Jesus died to save them from, so He requires all people to face this frightening reality before He gives the salvation Jesus provided to them.
However, the sad and frightening truth is that most churches in the world today are continually leading enormous numbers of people to God in super easy ways that are not led by His Spirit. These ways actually enable and help people to omit and ignore the truth that the extremely serious and dangerous judgment of eternal death is placed upon them as a result of breaking God’s holy laws, which is the judgment the Holy Spirit always leads people in the direction to face the reality of! In doing this these churches are leading people in the very opposite direction the Spirit of God leads, which leads them away from God and away from receiving salvation!
God will never approve of anyone who comes to Him in easy ways, while they are ignoring the punishment Jesus died to save them from, because they are severely insulting His suffering and His death, and what He accomplished!
Some of the many of the ultra easy ways churches are ushering people to follow, which is causing their efforts to receive salvation to fail, are like: just pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart or into your life; make a decision to follow Jesus; surrender your life to Jesus and make Him the Lord over your life; get baptized; be confirmed; ask Jesus to forgive all of your sins. Sound familiar?
Jesus warned about how these “easy” ways lead to failure long ago, but He also taught the only way that leads to “life” in Matthew 7:13-14 where He said, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
This is Jesus warning that many people try to come to Him in “easy” ways, but these ways lead to destruction! The “few” He spoke of that find the way to come to Him through the “hard” way of the narrow gate and receive life, are those who follow the Holy Spirit and allow God’s Spirit to reveal to them that they are condemned to the severe judgment of eternal death because of their sins, and then come to Jesus and receive Him as their Savior for the specific purpose of being set free from this horrific punishment! This is what makes the narrow gate that leads to “life” extremely hard as Jesus said in Matthew 7:14.
Unfortunately, when churches lead people to approach God through the easy way of the wide gate, they are leading them into an extremely dangerous and deadly place of deception, where they falsely believe they have come to Him in a way He accepts, when they have actually been led to Him in a way He can only reject—a way that leads to destruction as Jesus warned!
God is now sending this serious warning to all churches:
“The easier ways you have invented to bring people to Me are like the new cart King David built to move the Ark of the Covenant. Though well-intentioned, they are your ways, not Mine. And because you have turned from My way to follow your own easier ways, you are leading many toward death. Just as King David’s mistake cost a man his life, your mistake is leading multitudes toward eternal death.” (To read more about King David’s mistake see 2 Samuel 6:1–11)
God is sending this entire message to help people and churches find the way His Holy Spirit leads, so people can come to Him through the narrow gate and receive life. He is planning to lead those who receive His message, by the mighty power of His Holy Spirit that is flowing like a mighty river through this message, to come to Him through the narrow gate and receive the eternal life Jesus has provided for them!
The last two sentences of God’s message go together. When God says in the third sentence, “When people come to Me to receive salvation, the blood of Jesus must be applied to their hearts,” He is referring to a very powerful work His Holy Spirit performs by touching people’s hearts with the supernatural power of His love, so their hearts are filled with deep feelings of love and appreciation for Jesus in a way they have never experienced before. This touch from God brings a powerful brokenness into people’s hearts by seeing how it was the infinitely great love Jesus had in His heart that made Him willing and able to sacrifice His own life on a cross and endure unimaginable pain to save the life of others from eternal death!
When the High Priest of Israel applied the blood of a slain lamb to the Mercy Seat on the Day of Atonement, this made a temporary atonement that covered the sins of the Nation of Israel and made them worthy to continue on in the holy presence of God, but only for one year. However, when the Holy Spirit, acting as the Most High Priest, applies the precious blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, to people’s hearts, this makes an everlasting atonement for all of their sins, which lasts throughout all eternity!
This powerful atonement is what makes people holy, and worthy to enter into God’s holy presence by being “born again” of His Spirit, which Jesus said in John 3:7, “You must be born again.” This supernatural touch of God’s love in people’s hearts immediately precedes them being “born again,” which becomes one great supernatural act of God which drastically changes their lives forever!
This atonement is also what makes people holy and worthy to someday enter into God’s eternal city and to dwell in His holy presence forever!
The final and most severe judgment God sent upon the land of Egypt so they would set His people free, was the judgment of death to all the firstborn of every family. God spared the Children of Israel from this severe judgment by instructing Moses to have them apply the blood of a slain lamb upon the doorposts of their dwelling. That night all the firstborn of every family in the land of Egypt died, including the firstborn son of the Pharaoh, but the Children of Israel were saved!
God is saying in the last sentence of His message that just as the Children of Israel were only saved from the judgment of death by applying the blood of a slain lamb upon their doorposts as He had instructed, people today are only saved from the judgment of eternal death that rests upon all mankind, when the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, is applied to their hearts by His Holy Spirit, as He is now instructing!
However, only those who come to God following the leading of His Holy Spirit in a humble and contrite way by first facing the reality that they are condemned to eternal death in the lake of fire as a result of breaking His holy laws, and then receive Jesus as their Savior for the specific purpose of being set free from this horrific punishment, experience the Holy Spirit touching their hearts and applying the blood of Jesus to their hearts, which God is saying must happen before anyone is saved!
Here is a prayer you can use as a guide if you choose to follow God’s Holy Spirit and come to Jesus in this way to be saved! Use this only as a guide. When you pray, do so in your own words and pray from your heart.
Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, and you came to this world to suffer a horrible death on a cross to save people from the judgment of eternal death, which is to be thrown into the lake of fire on the Day of Judgment.
Jesus I know I have broken God’s Holy Commandments, and because of this I am guilty and condemned to this severe eternal punishment.
But, I do believe you died on a cross to take this severe punishment I deserve upon Yourself, and You made the way I can go free.
Jesus, I receive you now as my Savior so I can be saved from this horrible punishment.
I put my trust in you now to save me from all the punishment of my sins, and I thank you and praise you for all you did to make this possible. Amen
